African Sushi is unique to Funky Food, and a brand new concept discovered and developed by us. We created these fine dishes, and they are a sure hit. Just as with ordinary Sushi, you need to be slightly open-minded when considering them when creating your menu.
We use either rice or mieliepap (maize-flour cooked to create a type of porridge loved by South Africans) as a foundation to build our African Sushi-rolls.
Just as with normal Sushi, we use only the finest ingredients and highest preparation standards.
Instead of using fish, we use substitutes such as:
- Steak Tartar
- Boerewors meat (Traditional South African Sausage)
- Smoked Chicken
- Seared Ostrich
- Seared Venison.
- Smoked Mussels
The garnishing found in normal Sushi is also replaced with traditional South African Veggies and condiments.
The Wasabi and traditional Soya Sauce are also replaced with our very own special sauces and pastes.
A real “talker-dish” and a sure Royal African Treat!!
